“Thank you for creating a safe and welcoming space to allow me to push my limits and explore new levels” A participance told Founders Kathy Ha, and Michael Christoforo.

Last week, we at OESJ, had a privilege to welcome in Terranuma Schools for the 2nd year in a row, to come in and teach our students about breathing techniques.

Terranuma Schools, is an education organization that works with schools to provide tools for mental health, mindfulness, and stress relief. Ha and Chrisoforo, teach guided breathwork and meditation practices that help children and teachers access a calmer nervous system state.

Ha, states that these techniques lead to greater self awareness, a more focused, engaged classroom, and clearer communication between teachers and students.

Ha, has stated that she, and Christoforo, have had some positive feedback from previous adult participants.

One participant has stated “I’m much more aware of my breathing than prior to the retreat. I’ve been using these techniques to both start and end my day, and a few times when I’ve noticed my stress level increasing.”

Ha and Christoforo, worked with our Elementary students for 5 days on vocabulary, guided breathwork, and meditation.

“We are making a conscious effort to teach our students and staff life-long skills, practices, and habits related to breathwork, mindfulness, and gratitude that will help reduce anxiety and stress and contribute to them living healthier and happier lives” Stated OESJ’s elementary school principal, Kyle O’Brien.

O’Brien stated that spending just a few minutes a day on them can make a world of difference in our mental and physical health.
