More than 200 FFA members from 20 schools, including students from Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville (OESJ), showcased their leadership prowess and hard work at the District V Leadership Development Events held at Hamilton Central School on Saturday, February 3rd.
These contests, which span a range of disciplines from extemporaneous speaking to agricultural issues, served as a testament to the students’ dedication and commitment. Each participant was tasked with crafting their own materials, whether it be resumes, cover letters, speeches, or research documents, showcasing their individual talents and skills.
Several OESJ students also earned themselves a spot in the upcoming Sub-States slated for March. Among the standout competitors moving forward are:
– Kaylee Heroth, who excelled in Senior Extemporaneous Speaking and Employment Skills.
– EmmaJo Schmidtmann, demonstrating proficiency in Senior People in Agriculture and Senior Creed.
– Myles Hayes, showcasing talent in both Senior People in Agriculture and Junior Creed.
– Brooke Foote, impressing with her oratory skills in Junior Prepared Public Speaking.
– Rebecca Johnson, tackling complex Agricultural Issues with finesse.
– Maddy Sammons-Wilbur, Kenton Schwasnick, and Danica Schwasnick, all making their mark in the arena of Agricultural Issues.
– Andrea Thayer, contributing her insights to the discourse on Agricultural Issues.
